Just a couple of breakfast tapas from the NYT op-ed page:

Matthew Schmitz, editor of the Fash-True Left journalistic Brundlefly Compact, on Graham Platner:

The vogue for white masculinity is apparent in the enthusiasm for Graham Platner, a hard-bitten oysterman and war vet who is seeking the Democratic nomination for Senate in Maine.

While I’m intrigued by Platner’s ferocious ongoing efforts to fully declass himself, he went to Hotchkiss! You can’t be “hard-bitten” and a Hotchkiss man: that is a conceptual impossibility, like Donald Trump reading a book.

The 28-year-old White House press secretary appeared at a Turning Point USA event at George Washington University in D.C. on Thursday with Erika Kirk, the widow of the group’s slain founder, Charlie Kirk.

While discussing how it’s important for her to keep up with the news, she took a detour, saying that despite striving to be the best-read person in any room, she keeps being outdone by one man: President Trump.

This is without any exaggeration pure North Korea-style cult glazing. I’m also watching with rapt fascination as the Widow Kirk positions herself to do something or the other in these increasingly interesting times.

Moving right along, John Bolton has a thousand-word screed on how We Must Finish the Job in Iran, meaning overthrow the government via a modest and discreet invasion and occupation, that will surely not last more than twenty years, give or take, depending on the breaks.

I’m trying to imagine a left-wing equivalent to Bolton, and I’m coming up with: administration destroys the entire economy via forced collectivization, and main architect shows up 20 years later to advocate just a little more forced collectivization. Except I don’t think that proposal would end up on the the nation’s leading op-ed page for some mysterious reason.
